Privacy
Your photos stay yours.
Oshoot’s photo analysis runs on your device. Here is what that means, what the website connects to, and what you control.
We do not upload your photos. The browser cleaner reads only the files you choose, compares them locally, and lets you download a cleanup list. It cannot delete your original files.
About this policy
Last updated: October 2, 2026. This policy covers the Oshoot website at oshoot.ai, its browser photo cleaner, and the Android 0.5.0 test build. The Android app is in development and is not yet available on Google Play.
For privacy questions or requests, contact support@oshoot.ai.
Photos and scan results in your browser
The files you select, file names, available relative folder paths, dimensions, file hashes, visual measurements, and review choices are used within your browser to find and display matches. The photo analysis code does not send these files or scan results to an Oshoot server.
Scan and review state is held in memory. Clearing the scan, starting a new scan, or leaving the cleaner clears that state. Your original files stay in their original location. A CSV you choose to download remains wherever your browser saves it; it can contain file names, relative paths, hashes, and your review decisions.
There is no Oshoot account or cloud photo library in the browser cleaner. Oshoot does not use your selected photos to train a model.
Optional AI and website connections
The default fast visual comparison uses local image measurements and is not AI. If you choose the browser’s optional AI mode, public CLIP model files and supporting runtime files are downloaded from external delivery services, including Hugging Face. The model then runs in your browser; your selected photos are not sent to the model provider.
Your browser may cache those model files for future use. Clearing browser site data and cached files can remove downloaded resources. A new download may be needed afterward.
Loading Oshoot also requests the website’s pages and assets, and fonts from Google Fonts. Like other web requests, these connections expose information such as your IP address, browser information, and the requested resource to the service receiving the request. Those services may keep their own operational logs.
Diagnostics and error reporting
The website includes runtime error reporting hooks for its hosting and preview environment. When those hooks are active, an application error can report its message, stack trace, page path, and error context. Server errors can also appear in hosting logs. These diagnostics are separate from photo scanning; the scan does not include a photo upload or scan-results reporting step.
We do not claim that visiting the website creates no network traffic or diagnostics. Avoid putting private information into page URLs or error reports you send us.
Android 0.5.0 test build
This test build processes photos on the device using exact-file matching, visual measurements, and a bundled AI model for similar-photo suggestions. It does not request Android’s INTERNET permission. Access is controlled by Android permissions, including selected-photo access where supported, and the photos you make available to the app.
You can use Android’s photo picker for a private batch or grant optional gallery access. A scan is limited to the selected batch size, with 100-photo and 1,000-photo options in the 0.5.0 build. A cleanup action is limited to 100 photos. The app reads image content, names, sizes, dimensions, and orientation for local comparison. It does not request all-files access or video access. You can change or revoke access in Android Settings.
The app makes reduced previews in its private cache. If you save a review or collection, photo references and review metadata remain in the app’s local storage so you can return to them later. These records are not a cloud backup of your photos. In 0.5.0, saved review metadata has no additional Oshoot encryption, and temporary previews can remain until the next app start. Clearing Android’s app storage or uninstalling removes Oshoot’s private files.
If you save or share a cleanup CSV, it can contain candidate file names, sizes, dimensions, match types, review actions, and whether sample images were used. It contains no original photo content, device photo URI, or location data. A shared CSV is passed to the app you choose through Android’s sharing system. Copies saved or shared outside Oshoot remain there until you or the receiving service remove them.
On Android 11 and later, moving eligible gallery photos to system trash or restoring them requires Android’s confirmation. The Trash view can read names, sizes, item references, and available expiry dates for up to 500 accessible trashed photos, including photos trashed by other apps. Android controls retention and eventual deletion; check the expiry shown by your device. Trashed photos can still occupy storage.
Private-picker batches and Android 8–10 support review and export only. Clearing Oshoot’s storage or uninstalling it removes its private files, but does not restore or empty Android’s system trash.
The native preview has no account system, advertising, purchases, analytics, or app-provided crash reporting. Android, photo providers, and apps you use to open a website, send email, or share a CSV follow their own policies. A photo picker provider may download a cloud-hosted photo that you select, even though Oshoot itself has no internet permission.
For current capabilities and availability, see the Android preview page.
When you contact us
If you email support@oshoot.ai or sales@oshoot.ai, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you send through our email provider. We use that information to respond to your request. Please describe the issue without attaching personal photos; we can usually start with your device, browser version, and the steps that failed.
You can ask about or request deletion of correspondence by emailing support@oshoot.ai. We will explain any records that must be retained when responding. We cannot retrieve or delete photos from your device because we do not receive them through the cleaner.
Your choices and policy changes
You can use fast visual matching without downloading the AI model, clear your scan, remove downloaded cleanup lists, clear browser storage, and manage Android photo permissions in your device settings. Closing the website does not remove a CSV you have already downloaded.
We will update this page when data handling changes. The date above identifies the current version.
